Tanja Kempen

About me

I am a research associate at the Faculty of Resource Management at HAWK Göttingen and am pursuing my doctorate in the Department of Spatial Structures and Digitization of Forests at the University of Göttingen. My research is devoted to AI-based digitization of forest ground structures as a basis for modelling and improving water retention in forests.

I studied forest sciences and forest ecology with a focus on forest nature conservation at the University of Göttingen and TU Dresden. Before moving into forest science, I worked in sales and product management in e-commerce — most recently in the online marketplace business of Amazon.de, where I was responsible for growing the consumer goods segment.

What drives me: bringing know-how from the digital economy to where it can make a lasting difference — our forests.
